First Ever Green Jobs Award Winners Announced

Last night,  in New York, SJF Institute and Green For All recognized the inaugural class of award winners of the Green Jobs Award.

Bonny Moellenbrock, Executive Director of SJF Institute noted that during these difficult times with economic and environmental challenges, "it is more critical than ever to recognize and celebrate those that are successfully creating quality jobs in all communities, while effectively addressing our environmental challenges."

Trish Karter, Co-founder of Dancing Deer, shared her experiences as an entrepreneur and her lessons learned which included frugality, innovation, cash flow (the value in being able to make payroll) and passion.  Bruce Schlein, VP of Corporate Sustainability, Citi introduced each award winning company: Alvarado Street Bakery, Bioengineering Group, CLEAResult, E Light Wind and Solar, Inc., FLS Energy, Melink Corporation, OPOWER, Petra Solar, Sellars Absorbent Materials, and Southern Energy Management.

Each winner who received an award echoed the theme that both their unique environmental solutions and their high road employment practices have been drivers of their company's success. Companies shared their strategies and best practices with the audience and many noted that believing and investing in their employees and having a shared vision to make a positive change in the world, underlies their company's culture. "An inspired workforce is a great workforce" remarked Michael Shore, FLS Energy. Read more about the award winning companies at www.greenjobsaward.org
